Cédulas: Let's Get Digital

The telecommunications minister has announced that Ecuador is switching to digital cédulas soon.

The digital version of the card will be mandatory, according to her quote as reported at the Cuenca HighLife site.

The article does not make clear whether holders of existing
non-digital ID's can wait until expiration to obtain a digital
cédula. My cédula, issued, eight years ago, is still valid for two more years .. or so I thought.
