Supporting Yourself in Ecuador for Early Retirement

For those thinking of retiring early with limited means, please note the following:

Hotel rooms are typically $25-30 per night and most hotels are full for holidays but limited occupancy rest of times.

Restaurants - typical daily special is $2.50-3.00 and includes soup appetizer, main plate with meat, rice and salad and fruit juice. Not very fancy. People other than expats don't have much money so high priced restaurants are not much in demand.

For whatever work you can do in USA, expect about 1/4 price here unless you can get an expat group of customers to pay more.

In other words, you cannot expect to take a USA business and translate it here and make USA prices and profits. You will get local prices which are much lower....most niche markets have already been exploited by the locals including expats.

Best idea to earn money here is remote work from USA if you can find it.
