Hello, as we will move to Fiji from Paraguay in january 2018, and want to bring ~650kg of personal items, we are looking for a freight agent, or someone who can give us advices. We tried to contact forum member Billwill, but he didnot reply. Maybe someone can give us his email adress? Thanks and regards, Michael

Have done twice and regular bring in commercial items.
650 kg... Usually for sea shipping they deal in cubic meters. Most pallets if stacked to 6 5 feet are about 2.5 cu m.
You will need an agent there in Paraguay ti do the shipping and arrange shipping to Fiji. Depending who is shipping carrier, they will already have their own Fiji agent. Typically it is,Williams and Gosling or Carpenters Shipping. Both are good. Issue will be dealing with customs and biosecurity. They will inspect your items, include opening boxes.
At 650 kg I assume not enough to fill a 20 ft container . So if less than container load (lcl) you face risk of items getting lost or damaged.
When I moved back my household in 2014, I chose to get ship in a container even though it was, less than half full. It was actually cheaper and nore secure.

There is restrictions on freezers, and certain foods, drugs, weapons etc.
Also need to make sure outdoor sporting goods, are cleaned well. Coming from So America Biosecurity will thoroughly inspect items as they are unloaded.
You also have to pay steep import duty on alcohol and cigarettes - thus best to buy those duty free when you arrive in country

Billwill is a known conman of savusavu. He is known to Customs but they won't tell you he is a thief and has no Freight Agents licence. The local police look after him, and no doubt he pays them. He has recently been charged for four counts of fraud, but due to the extremely Corrupt Fijian system he will not get much of a sentence. In fact he is a serial repeat offender, and yet the Govt. lets him continue on. Thats probably due to the scam that involves the Fijian wharfs, customs and other Govt. departments. His partner Dianna actually has been heard to brag about having stole a couples money. Do yourself a favour and do not move to Fiji. I was lucky and talked with a couple who are victims of a corrupt Fiji....they wish they had never moved there. And would not stay except they have had so much money stolen, they cut leave. I wisely decided to decline the job position I was offered. It appears that Fijians see anyone who is white as a walking wallet that they can steal from. The go to church and think that make it ok. There are so many horror stories from conman like William to corrupt builders.
