Specific questions on Crete

I am an American retiree currently living in Germany, but have decided to move somewhere that is warmer and less expensive. I have narrowed my choices down to Crete or cyprus and have some specific questions that I need to have answered in order to make my decision.

1. Average rnnge of costs for 2 bedroom (3 rom) apartment in the Chania (GHania) area with parking, NOT on the beach.

2. Average utility costs
a. Type of fuel for heating
b. is the cooking gas or electric

3. How difficult is it to find an apartment on the ground floor with few or no steps?

4. Can you find someone to clean your house and do the ironing? If so, about wht does this cost?

5. Are there stores that stock internatinal foods, i.e. Asian, Mexican, etc.? What type of restaurants are available and what about the quality?

6. Does Chania/Hania have an expat retiree community? If so, what are the main countries of origin? Are thre organizations for the expats?

7. Wht is the average cost for a 6-8 year old second hand car? Can expats drive with a foreign driver's icense? How is the cost of car insurance?

8. What are the advantages of licing in Crete compared with other areas in southen Europe?

I am particularly considering Chania because of it's proximity to the US Naval Station in Souda Bay. I have an ID card and can use all of the base facilities except medical.
