My husband and I are considering a move to Greece, we are both currently retired and wishing a change of lifestyle. I would love to dive in and immerse myself into Greek culture, while learning the language a little at a time to better assimilate and not necessarily be too dependent on an expat community, to sort of, skate by. I would like to know what your personal experiences have been, either the barriers you had to face and any event, whether it be positive or negative, as a direct effect of not being fluent in local language, also, what would you have done differently to make that transition less stressful and better prepared?
