Recently I was traveling from Nicaragua to Guatemala by bus and was denied entry into Honduras. They refused to recognize my Nicaraguan documents to enter under c4, and then refused to let me enter as a tourist with my US passport because I had been in Nic. for more than 90 days. Not hard to understand I was in Nic. for more than 90 days because I have been a legal resident there for more than 10 years.
This was no cranky border guard. It went thru the whole office and then they called higher up for confirmation.
You may or not realize it but Nic. and Hond. are having a pissing contest and now Honduras is arbitrarily punishing 3rd country nationals as a back handed way of getting at Nic.
My advice for travelers is to avoid Honduras and Transportes del Sol bus company. They review your travel docs before they sell a non-refundable ticket and then laugh all the way to the bank
