Hi,

We are planning to relocate to Mumbai, India. My child is born and raised in USA. he is 13 years old, in 8th grade in a Public school system in california, USA. We are planning to relocate to Mumbai next year which means he will be in Ninth grade. American school of Bombay seems to be very expensive. What are our other choices of good schools in Mumbai and how do we pick a school. Is there a website that has details about schools etc.. We want to make sure our son has a sn]=mooth transition as far as education is concerned. Appreciate any pointers/help to choose a good school in Mumbai. Thanks

You might want to contact School Choice International, www.SchoolChoiceIntl.com (they've written a couple of articles here recently). I know they have an online resource, although I haven't seen it.

We lived in Pune for a year when our oldest was in the 9th grade, and she went to a local English-medium school, while our younger kids went to an international school. There are pros and cons to both experiences, and it is worth doing your research up front.

Hi
As you mentioned that you will be shifting to Mumbai from USA and are looking forward for good educational institutes for your child’s admission. I recommend you to get your child admitted in any of the international schools as they have an international teaching pattern which will be an ideal choice for your child rather than a local English medium school where it will be difficult for him to adapt to the local teaching methods.

Though there are many international schools operating in Mumbai (India), looking at your requirements I would suggest you to go for Ascend International School. I have been recently searching for an international school for my friend’s son and came across Ascend International School which is a state of the art international school with a highly qualified faculty and staff, innovative individualized programs, experienced leadership and a progressive education model.
