Need for private English teachers

Hi- Before starting any heavy research on India, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's a need for private English teachers in the country? Yes, I know that England controlled it way back when and thus many speak it, but I also know that many don't. I'm not interested in teaching in schools - only one-on-one. Input from ESL teachers especially welcomed.
