Moving to Malaysia

How long will it take to get visa & travel there for initial 90 days to research just where to look -- Chiang Mai? The tea plantation areas?

I wont be shipping much -- just personal & the like -- maybe a 10' container would be ample.
Advice on the best place on earth to set up with language, access, comfortable accommodation, good food -- you know ;-) the usual.
I would like to be able to have my own vehicle -- A but larger & not electric -- diesel?
Would it be possible to bring my business staff with me? Not imperative but easier.
