Bringing Dogs to Yucatan Area

Hi - we've just discovered this community on the net so are new to the group....

We will be relocating to the Yucatan area (outside of Merida) later this year and will be taking our four legged family with us. We have several large breed dogs and are wondering if others who have taken their pets with them to Mexico from the US have experienced any specific health problems or risks for their dogs?

Are there things in particular to watch out for that our vet and we may not have thought of yet? We are aware of the risk of ghiardia, ticks and mosquitos year round and are taking preventative measures here prior to leaving. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!
