Mexican paperwork

If you enter Mexico by car, you MUST get a car permit to enter the interior.

If you move to Mexico with an FM3 card, you MUST register within thirty days. You will need your birth certificate, marriage license, and your last three months' bank statements (I know you used them to get the FM3 card in the first place, but they want them anyway). You also need some proof of where you are living, such as a bill, houing contract (even if you haven't actually bought the house yet), rent receipt, etc.

They are pretty lenient about letting you get onto the national healthcare plan, which costs about $225/year. It does not cover previous conditions for the first two years, and if you use it too heavily in the first two years, they might cancel it.

Make sure you set up your mutual funds so that you can transfer money to a bank account by phone or computer. Once you set it up, they usually need 14 days to verify it for the first time.

We are engaged in a confict. Our realtor suddenly said that we needed permits to buy a Mexican house, and they would cost $500 apiece. Nobody else has heard of this. I am seeing a legal expert tomorrow. One person said that it might be because when you actually own the house, instead of a trust, you do not have to pay a yearly fee.
