I've met several Californians in the Lake Chapala area. They are the most likely to be angry at their home state, due to the higher property taxes, house prices, etc. Generally, they have improved thier life style the most by moving to Mexico.
I e-mailed a friend in California who writes on the AOL financial boards, and he replied that he knew of people who had moved away from California, decided to return, but then couldn't afford the same house, because property prices had risen while they were gone. While the California real estate bubble might burst at any time, it is still a good reminder: visit Mexico FIRST, before moving here.
There are many good books on emigrating to Mexico, available at large bookstores, and you can ask questions on this forum BEFORE you sell your house and move.
