Hola!
I'm half way packed, completed basic Spanish courses, getting documents together for laywer for temp visa (so yes, I have a plan & have done my research).
Overall I've spent months in many different cities and have been frequently over 5 years. I love Isla Mujeres community, Puerto Morelos culture & less touristy areas, Tulums beauty (that seems all hotels now though) & great downtown.
I've browsed the forums, but I'd love to hear some more recent opinions on:
Where you live (everywhere has gotten so touristy it seems like), and would you move there now for the first time or go somewhere else?
When you moved for your first time, did you go for a more expat oriented place, or try to avoid touristy areas?
Would love to hear about some uncommon places, (and common ones too) from Riviera to Costa Maya, you like as a resident expat.
Second guessing myself (maybe because it's such a big move) if the place I've been looking - Puerto Morelos - isn't the perfect first-time fit, and if I should go more "wade in" and start with somewhere like Playa (which I've disliked when I've been as it seems like a mini Miami, but many seem to love it, maybe I'm missing a secret Playa "Coconut Grove" area?), or maybe somewhere even quieter (I do want some expat community), esp. since I'm a solo female and I'm not fluent in Spanish yet (I learn best by immersion).
Cheers!
