Water quality

We are in our early 70s living in the US and planning to retire in Mexico either in Puebla or one of the coast towns like Mazatlan, PV or Playa de Carmen. We are very concerned about adjustment, if ever, to the water quality there while living there long term and not just as visitors. Your knowledge and experience is deeply appreciated.
