67 yrs young...considering relocating next year to PI....Lived in PI from ages 5-7, 12-14, 17(Navy on way to/from Nam, about a month each time), visited 2013 (8 months, Manila, Olangapo, Cebu a week), Are there still any places with the "older ambience" of horse drawn carriages, brightly colored Jeepnies, large market places for grocery shopping and eating, etc...but good Hospitals, Internet in a preferred safe medium town or city close to nature trails, hikes and or beaches? Sounds like I'm wishing for everything...thanks eveyone.

David - yes it still all exists here although changing quickly in the RP . Most rural areas are likely how you remember it. The urban areas such as Manila and Cebu are very hectic ! there are places in-between that strike balance . The RP is still very much under developed with infrastructure compared to Thailand and Singapore and maybe even Vietnam at this point. However, most services are available in the hospitals you wish for are around , with various levels of equipment and skilled doctors .

I would get here and poke around . See if its to your fancy now - this is the best way .

My Filipino wife and I are moving to the Philippines in October of 2022. We are thinking of building a modest house, maybe to western (USA) standards/looks Question: Has anyone have experience with builders in and around Dumaguete or Cebu areas? Thanks for any help/info provided. Fred

We built outside Bacolod City a western style house. Prices are better and this island is much nicer. Negros. We didn't experience all that lockdown stuff others did. Nice and quiet but everything we need. We now have 2 homes and some property here on this island. Many new hospitals going in and one of them is going to be USA standard equipped and certified! Very few places offer that.
