Hello all!
I am having a terrible time trying to figure out how to move to the U.K., specifically England, to be with my boyfriend but I am not planning to work. He is a British citizen, but from what I can tell, unless we can prove we have been together two years (which we can't) since I'm here in the US. and he's there, or we are married, I don't know if I can stay. Do any of you know of someone whom this has worked for? Thanks so much for your help.

Josie,

I am not a follower of the UK forum but rather the Uruguay forum.

It is amazing to me that there are no posted responses to any of the questions raised here so I thought I would chime in.

Your best bet is going to be to find an expat forum that addresses Americans in the UK like this one. https://www.uk-yankee.com/expat-guide-uk/moving-to-uk. He seems to cover your situation.

Best of luck.

Hiya
It’s hard to come n stay here in uk but u can visit as your American passport give you 6 months but he would have to make sure he has enough money or you to cover your stay also you need to buy travel insurance as well. The only wAy u could stay was to get married but even that’s is tricky now as my niece had same trouble but she was married in states n he had to have I think it was £30,000 in bank before he could bring her here so good luck hope this helps
