Making friends in London

How to make long lasting friendships in North London without:

1) joining an Expat site? (ironically! ;)
2) joining a sports club/league/competitive gaming society? (I'm nearly 40, come on!)
3) dating every bloke at the pub (obviously not the plan)
4) being mostly introverted and not wanting small talk about weather and other boring topics?
