Retirees as Immigrants

Does the U.K. accept retired people as immigrants? I'm from the U.S. and looking into applying for the ancestry visa through my paternal grandmother, who was born in England. My pension allows me to live comfortably in Los Angeles, so I am able to care for myself. Also, can anyone recommend a reputable, reasonably priced solicitor that would help me with my visa, or at the least answer my questions before putting time into pursuing the visa?
