Move to Venezuela?

I am 41 years old currently living in Texas, born and raised. I may be going to work for a company that has a Venezuelan branch of operations. My wife and I have been talking about moving out of the U.S. for several years. We have a 5 year old son and 7 year old daughter. To those of you who know more about this than myself, can you please give me some pros vs cons of moving my family to Venezuela. I would be doing field work so could live just about anywhere I wanted in the country. As far as that goes, I guess I wouldn't necessarily have to live in Venezuela in particular. Any information you could provide would be helpful.
Thanks, Paul

Hi, I to worked In V for about 5months in 08-09? Hugo was still in power. I was single at the time and did not have much to worry about. The country seems unstable at this time and I lived in Cararca and worked in Tacoa, about 45 min commute. The people were wonderful but the political climate was difficult at best as I was a foriegner and not well recieved, all in all it was a wonderful time and I would do it again in a heart beat. I stayed in the Hilton so was pretty well insulated from the outside except when I was able to travel about with a friend or two that I met. I would definitely look at the area where you would be staying and what accomodations you could find or what was provided. Not sure if this helps but hope it does, good luck!!! Dale

Hey Chitty,

While people may discourage you to move to Caracas, if you do it can be a life changing experience, just make sure that you take the necessary safety measures to keep your family safe, basically be careful, no going out late at night, wearing flashy clothes etc.

In case you decided to move to Venezuela, I have an apartment that I rent on airbnb that is available for semi-long term rentals.

hi... The Venezuela thread is curious and fascinating... All I have heard about Venezuela is how intensely the population is struggling to find something to eat. Hyper-inflation set in... Hospitals in severe lack of everything.... A severe situation at best... NOW, wanting to hear from ANYONE actually on the ground who is planning to go or has recently gone... What is your experience? How are you getting on? Is what we are hearing exaggerated?

No mention of the drastic situation in Venezuela? It sounds like any other normal day in any country...
Is hyper-inflation and no food ANYWHERE an exaggeration? I want to hear from people who are going/have gone recently to Venezuela, thanks...

I'm Venezuelan and it isn't an exaggeration. Things are very bad here. No food. No medicine,
