Perennial wanderer and nomad. Not happy with life in the US - too expensive, too crowded, and the people are just not all that nice anymore. I'm preparing a journey to South America by motorcycle, and one of my first stops will be in Venezuela to pick up the wonderful woman I met who who calls it home. We may make the outskirts of Caracas our longer term home eventually, or we may opt for someplace else.
I've been all over the world, and found beauty and contentment in very nearly every place I've been. I have no reason to expect anything different from Venezuela. I speak Spanish passably, but will never be mistaken for a native or fluent.
Looking to find current information on the challenges and excitements of living in Venezuela. The internet (of course) is littered with warnings and reasons not to go, but that information seems to be from the bad years - 2017 or so. I'd like to hear about current conditions, future prospects, and an overall sense of what it's like to live there

Ive been in porlamar Isla Margarita for ten years.. Great improvements in the last year with a dynamic new mayor who is busy every day cleaning the city, organising concerts , cutting out crime and corruption, we have the best year round climate in the world.. I'm 76, swim in the sea every morning before breakfast.. I feel good .. Plenty of choice of foods in the shops..

Former finance guy looking to be a digital nomad and live under the radar. I've seen a lot, but not a lot outside the USA. So I'll be paying attention.

Currently I live in Texas and am planning to move abroad (again) to teach English. I have a doctorate in educational leadership, specializing in the most effective ways to teach English. I lived and worked as an ESL teacher in China from 2013-2018 and loved it! It would be terrific to hear about what it's really like for a teacher of English to live in Venezuela.
