I'm a recent single female retiree in US looking for a moderately priced (max. $1500 USD/mo.) independent living community in Chapala. I'm in pretty good health (still love salsa dancing) but don't want to live alone. Does anybody here live in one of these communities? I saw one website where everything (studio or 1 br. apartment, utilities, meals and more was included) except for health care, but can't find it again. Anyone know of a broker who specializes in these kind of communities? I planning to move around April 15 with a temporary resident visa, but I think you need to have an address and signed lease to get that visa. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks!

Wife and I are starting our exploration of Mexico as a retirement location. Will be visiting the chapala area within the next 3 months to understand the area, housing cost of living and other. Does anyone use the ACA and the SDFCU as a work around to us bank accounts?
