What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Salalah. They wrote...
"Expats in Salalah often find the local culture to be quite different from what they are used to. The conservative nature of the culture can be challenging for some, as it is important to dress modestly and respect local customs. Additionally, the language barrier can be difficult for expats, as Arabic is the official language of Oman and English is not widely spoken. Furthermore, the hot and humid climate can be difficult to adjust to, especially for those coming from cooler climates. Finally, the lack of public transportation can make it difficult to get around the city," explained one expat living in Salalah, Oman.
