What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Koh Rong Sanloem. They wrote...

"Expats in Koh Rong Sanloem often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not everyone speaks English and communication can be difficult. The pace of life is also significantly slower than what most Westerners are used to, which can be frustrating for those who are used to a fast-paced lifestyle. The lack of modern conveniences and infrastructure, such as reliable internet and healthcare facilities, can also be challenging for expats. Additionally, the local customs and etiquette, which are deeply rooted in Buddhism and respect for elders, can be difficult for foreigners to understand and adhere to. Lastly, the tropical climate, with its high humidity and monsoon seasons, can be hard to adjust to for those used to more temperate climates," said another expat in Koh Rong Sanloem, Cambodia.
