What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Preah Vihear. They wrote...
"Expats in Preah Vihear often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Khmer is the official language and English is not widely spoken. They may also struggle with the local customs and traditions, which can be very different from their own. The pace of life in Preah Vihear is much slower than in Western countries, which can be frustrating for some expats. The local cuisine, which is heavily based on rice and fish, may also be difficult for some to adapt to. Additionally, the lack of Western amenities and the high levels of poverty can be confronting for expats. Lastly, the hot and humid climate can be challenging for those who are not used to such conditions," remarked another expat who made the move to Preah Vihear, Cambodia.
