What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Oroklini. They wrote...
"Expats in Oroklini often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Greek and Turkish are the main languages spoken. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a faster, more hectic lifestyle. Additionally, the Cypriot concept of time and punctuality, which is more relaxed than in many Western countries, can be difficult to adjust to. Some expats may also struggle with the local customs and traditions, which can be quite different from their own. Lastly, the hot summer climate can be a challenge for those not used to Mediterranean weather," remarked another expat who made the move to Oroklini, Cyprus.
