What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Kyrenia. They wrote...
"Expats in Kyrenia often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as the majority of the population speaks Greek or Turkish. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a faster, more hectic lifestyle. Additionally, the Cypriot concept of time, which is more relaxed and less punctual than in many Western cultures, can be difficult to adjust to. Some expats may also struggle with the local cuisine, which is heavily based on meat and seafood. Lastly, navigating the local bureaucracy can be a challenge, particularly when it comes to dealing with paperwork and official procedures," remarked another expat who made the move to Kyrenia, Cyprus.
