What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Kiti. They wrote...

"Expats in Kiti often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Greek and Turkish are the main languages spoken and not everyone speaks English. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those used to a faster, more hectic lifestyle. Additionally, the Cypriot concept of time, which is more relaxed and less punctual than in many Western cultures, can be difficult to adjust to. Some expats may also struggle with the local cuisine, which is heavily based on meat and seafood, and may not suit everyone's tastes or dietary requirements. Lastly, navigating the local bureaucracy can be a challenge, as it can be complex and time-consuming, particularly for those who are not fluent in the local languages," remarked another expat who made the move to Kiti, Cyprus.
