"Expats in Yanbu often find the strict adherence to Islamic customs and laws challenging, especially those related to dress codes and gender segregation. The language barrier can also be a significant challenge, as Arabic is the primary language spoken and not everyone may speak English. The extreme heat during summer months can be difficult to adjust to, particularly for those from cooler climates. The restrictions on alcohol and pork, which are both prohibited in Saudi Arabia, can also be a significant adjustment for many expats. Additionally, the slower pace of life and the concept of 'Saudi time', where punctuality is not always prioritized, can be frustrating for those used to more time-conscious cultures. Lastly, the limited entertainment options and restrictions on certain forms of entertainment can also be challenging for some expats," said a member in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
