Is the cost of living in Tortola high?

Answer this Question

We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in Tortola, they wrote...

"The cost of living in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, is considered to be quite high compared to many other places. This is largely due to the fact that most goods and services are imported, which increases their cost. Housing is particularly expensive, especially in areas popular with tourists and expatriates. Groceries are also costly, with prices significantly higher than in the United States or Europe. Eating out, while offering a range of options, can also be pricey, especially in high-end restaurants. Transportation costs can vary. While owning a car can be expensive due to high import taxes, public transportation and taxis are relatively affordable. Healthcare is another significant expense. While there is a public healthcare system, many residents opt for private healthcare, which can be costly. Despite the high cost of living, many people are drawn to Tortola for its beautiful beaches, warm climate, and relaxed lifestyle. However, it's important for potential residents to be aware of the high living costs and plan their finances accordingly," remarked another expat who made the move to Tortola, the British Virgin Islands.
