What should I pack when moving to Dhaka?

Answer this Question

We asked people living in Dhaka to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...

"When moving to Dhaka, it is important to pack items that will help you adjust to the climate and culture. Pack lightweight, breathable clothing that is appropriate for the hot and humid climate. Bring a few items of clothing that are suitable for more formal occasions, such as a dinner or a business meeting. Bring a few items of clothing that are suitable for more casual occasions, such as a day at the park or a night out with friends. Pack a few items of clothing that are suitable for religious occasions, such as a visit to a mosque or temple. Bring a few items of clothing that are suitable for outdoor activities, such as a hike or a bike ride. Pack a few items of clothing that are suitable for indoor activities, such as a movie night or a board game night. Bring a few items of clothing that are suitable for the rainy season, such as a raincoat and rain boots. Pack a few items of clothing that are suitable for the winter season, such as a coat and a scarf. Bring a few items of clothing that are suitable for the summer season, such as shorts and a t-shirt. Pack a few items of clothing that are suitable for the monsoon season, such as a light jacket and an umbrella. Additionally, bring any necessary medications, toiletries, and personal items that you may need," commented one expat who made the move to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
