As a foreigner living in Luanda, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Luanda if they have access to public healthcare in Luanda. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Luanda, you will have access to public healthcare, but the quality and availability of services may not be up to the standards you are used to. Public healthcare facilities in Angola are often overcrowded, understaffed, and lack essential medical supplies and equipment. It is common for patients to experience long waiting times and limited access to specialized care. Additionally, language barriers may pose a challenge, as not all healthcare professionals speak English. For these reasons, many expatriates and foreigners living in Angola opt for private healthcare facilities or seek medical treatment abroad. It is highly recommended to have comprehensive health insurance that covers medical evacuation in case of emergencies," remarked another expat who made the move to Luanda, Angola.
