As a foreigner living in Kathmandu, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Kathmandu if they have access to public healthcare in Kathmandu. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Kathmandu, you will have access to public healthcare, but the quality and availability of services may not be up to the standards you are used to in your home country. Public hospitals in Kathmandu are often overcrowded, understaffed, and may lack modern equipment and facilities. Additionally, you may face language barriers when seeking medical care. It is recommended that foreigners living in Kathmandu consider obtaining private health insurance and seeking treatment at private hospitals or clinics, which generally offer better quality care and more modern facilities," remarked another expat who made the move to Kathmandu, Nepal.
