It's also easier to negotiate rental contracts and you have the flexibility to move if you're not happy with your location. When looking for a house, consider the local climate. Houses in Cha-am are often built to withstand the tropical weather, with features like high ceilings, tiled floors, and good ventilation. Expats also advise to be aware of the legalities involved in buying property in Thailand. Foreigners cannot own land in their name, but they can own the building on the land. Therefore, many expats choose to lease land and then build a house on it.
