The Nam Song River in Vang Vieng, Laos

What should I pack when moving to Laos?

Answer this Question

We asked people living in Laos to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...

"When moving to Laos, it is important to pack items that will help you adjust to the climate and culture. Bring clothing that is lightweight and breathable, as well as items that will protect you from the sun. It is also important to bring items that will help you stay cool, such as a fan or air conditioning unit. Additionally, bring items that will help you stay connected to your home country, such as a laptop, phone, and internet access. Finally, make sure to bring any necessary medications and toiletries," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Laos.

"1. Heavy socks, jackets, and sweaters 2. Hand tools: electric drill, electrical 3. M/C jacket, helmet boots, gloves," commented one expat who made the move to Vientiane, Laos.
