Are foreigners allowed to own property in Uganda?
When we asked expats in Uganda if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...
"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Uganda. The Land Act of 1998 allows foreign investors to own land in Uganda, provided they obtain the necessary permits from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development. Foreigners are also allowed to lease land for up to 99 years. However, they are not allowed to own land in certain areas, such as national parks and military zones. Additionally, foreign investors must register their property with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau," commented one expat who made the move to Uganda.
