Are foreigners allowed to own property in Libya?
When we asked expats in Libya if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...
"Foreigners are not allowed to own property in Libya. According to the Libyan Investment Authority, foreign investors are only allowed to lease land and buildings for a period of up to 99 years. Foreigners are also not allowed to own shares in Libyan companies. The only exception is for foreign companies that are registered in Libya and have a Libyan partner," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Libya.
