Canadian moving to Belize

I am a Canadian looking at relocating and buying a small local business in Ambergris Caye. I would love to hear from someone who has moved to this area and let me know the pros and cons. Are there inexpensive living accomadations to rent? What is the average monthly cost to live there for 1 person? How is the crime rate? Can a person make a reasonable living?
