Retiring in Belize

Hello: I'm new to the forum and I've been reading the posts on Belize. I'm originally from Central America, but I've been living in the Midwest for 40 years. I have a few years to go before retirement (I don't like that word because it sounds like you're going to stop living, which I don't intend to do). I'm planning to move abroad after my son finishes college (4 years from now). I love to travel and have been to a lot of places. I spent 3 years in Spain while stationed abroad with the US Navy. I became a nurse and, although I enjoy it, I'm ready to get out of the rat race. I'd like to know how easy (or hard) is it to start your own business there. I'm single. Would that be a hindrance or an advantage? Also I'd rather not drive. How easy is it to move around without a car? Thanks a million!
