Mail service in Placencia?

I'm just beginning to explore the possibility of retiring in Plancencia. I haven't even visited yet, but plan on doing so in about 6 months.
Anyway, someone told me that there is no mail delivery to residences in Placencia, and one must have things mailed to the Placencia post office for pick-up.
I find this hard to believe.
Can someone please clarify this?
