Hello,
If any of my fellow Tianjin'ers are looking for something to do, I am going to be starting up an expat listserve for the area. Everyone knows Tianjin is a big city, but until now it's been a lot more difficult to find out what's going on than in it's bigger, more glamorous neighbor, Beijing.
The goal with this listserve is to let people in the Tianjin area, or those interested in coming to Tianjin, find out what's happening around the city, in terms of events, concerts, jobs, and anything else you can think of.
You can sign up for the listserve over at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TianjinExpats/
The first list was so successful that we've had to open up a second one to accomodate all the traffic. As of today, the first list will be restricted to a single weekly email announcing concerts, jobs, and events, and discussion will be moved over to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TianjinExpatsDiscuss/
Hopefully this will prevent people who just want to know what's going on from getting their email boxes flooded with unnecessary replies.
Tianjin Expats also maintains a growing, open-sourced guide to the city. To download the guide, however, you need to have a yahoo ID. Please go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TianjinExpats/files/Tianjin%20Guide%20for%20Foreigners.doc and yahoo will walk you through the process of getting an ID.Let me know if you have any questions.
