This afternoon I was presented with the opportunity to take a teaching position at a university's english center just outside of Guangzhou. But if I say yes, I have to move there before September 1st! Talk about a whirlwind! I did study Mandarin a bit a few years back, but of course here I go to a Cantonese area. Anybody living around Guangzhou? I guess I'll be doing some language cramming for the next few weeks (presuming I say yes). Any tips there?
I spent about a month in northern China last summer so I have at least been there, but living there is completely different of course. I can't even begin to think what items to pack and take with me (aside from clothes, of course). Any tips at all would be most appreciated.
