Visas for Married Persons

I have been out of China for 3 years and am preparing to go back. I am married to a Chinese citizen.
This is my first time to go back to NOT work. I will be staying permenantly (I own property).
What kind of visa will I be going in on, and what is the process for converting to a long term residency permit?
