China: Router

Hello, I have been living in Dalingshan, Dongguang, Guangdond for a few months now. I recently bought a new router for the my China Unicom Cable service since they couldn't run DSL to my apartment.

The reason that I bought the new router was that I wanted more flexiblity and the TP-Link router that i am currently use is in Chinese.

Since this is a cable service. I should be able to plug the new router in and automatically get assigned a WAN IP. However, that is not happening.

Is there anything specific that I need to know about how the cable internet system works here?
