Local Primary Schools

Hi,
We are a Chinese/ Brit couple with 8 and 5 year old boys living in Singapore. We want to move to China and put the boys in local primary school. They are speaking and starting reading and writing Chinese but are definitely behind local mainland kids. Does anyone know the best places for similar situations? Best schools and culture for assimilating semi-Chinese kids? I lived in China before for 7 years and my wife is a Hubei province native. Any advice is most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
