Quito or Guayaquil? Teaching English

My girlfriend and myself are considering moving to Ecuador for a 6 month (or so) period, leaving this fall or winter.

I think we would like to live in either Quito, or Guayaquil, but the decision would come down to the availability of jobs and cost of living.

My girlfriend has a bachelors degree, but I only have some college finished, neither of us have a TEFL or any teaching certificates. Would teaching English be a realistic option for us in Ecuador?
