Plan B

Hello,

I am not sure if anyone will remember me, I haven't posted for over a year.

We gave up on the Ecuador idea after it turned out too difficult to get paperwork done. The idea was for my wife to become Ecuadorian, but my Ecuadorian-born mother-in-law had problems retrieving her cedula. Big thanks to Silverwater by the way for her several trips to the registro civil to help me out. With my wife's Ecuadorian citizenship, the idea was to work remotely for my Canadian employer. I am not sure if my employer would agree to that anyway.

So instead, we ended up moving from Montreal to Southern California. I got a job with Amazon on their mobile apps team. The cost of living here is high, but the salary makes up for it. And the weather is amazing! The job is in Irvine, and we live in Laguna Beach.

Just wanted to drop this note, so that I am not remembered as a dreamer that didn't follow through... We did move somewhere warm in the end, just not to Ecuador (yet...)

Jacek
