Flew into Colombia last month intending to winter in Ecuador because the airfare here from the U.S. was lots less. But now the Peso' s so weak and the country so fine, I'm thinking of simply staying on -- Ecuador's imposition of a 21 percent duty on Colombian exports (and Ecuador hotel costs on internet booking sites) may have tipped the scales. As a fixed income retiree, is this the year Colombia's become cheaper for tourists than Ecuador? Got a fine room in Popayan, living quite nicely on less than $20USD daily at current exchange rates. How much more will it run me in Ecuador, if I work it right?
