Future Concerns

We are finalizing our decision on where we want to relocate to. The world political situationis a concern. I don't want to ask a controversial or "hot topic" question, but I would be interested in the perception of those that have moved to, and are living in Ecuador. In the past, Ecuador has had a good relationship with, and aligned with, the USA. Do you feel that is changing and that China is having more of an influence? Will that affect (or are you concerned about) the safety of American retirees?
