Where to start??

Looking to relocate to Chania Crete and will take a couple of months toward the end of the year to dip my toes in the water, so to speak. I know very little so whatever info I can get would be welcomed. I'm single and budget myself to around $2500us a month. I'm not looking for a mansion but something comfortable and still have money for the island. Can you give me some help? thanks
