Freelancing from Mexico

Hello,

I've been thinking about moving to Mexico for some time now and I wanted to get some info from someone who may have done what I'd like to do.

I currently do freelance webdesign and programming here in California. If I moved to Mexico, my plan would be to continue to do freelance work for clients back in the states. (Yes, I'd be able to keep getting jobs even though I'd be so far away.)

My main question is what would I need to worry about or be on the lookout for if I tried to do this? Do I need to register anything with the Mexican gov? Am I correct is assuming the first $80000/yr I make will not be taxed by Uncle Sam? Do I even need to report earnings to the US? To Mexico? Do most large towns/small cities have reliable broadband connections available?

Thanks,
Greg
